Director of Glaucoma Research and Director of Glaucoma Fellowship Program at the Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital, New York, NYSung Chul (Sean) Park, MD, is the Director of Glaucoma Research and Director of Glaucoma Fellowship Program at the Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital, New York, NY and an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. He is a clinician-scientist who pioneered three-dimensional high-resolution imaging and analysis of the optic nerve head in human glaucoma, discovering a new set of pathogenic mechanisms. He also elucidated the risk factors and progression pattern of central visual field loss in glaucoma.
He has written 60+ peer-reviewed articles and 6 book chapters and given 100+ original presentations and 70+ invited lectures worldwide. He has been honored with 13 national or international awards and grants, including the AAO Achievement Award, American Glaucoma Society Young Clinician Scientist Award, American Glaucoma Society MAPS Award, Empire Clinical Research Investigator Program Fellowship of New York State, and Eye Bank of New York Research Grant.
He is a member of Editorial Board of Journal of Glaucoma and a member of World Glaucoma Association Global Consensus Meetings. He serves as an organizer of international meetings including the World Ophthalmology Congress, World Glaucoma Congress and Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology Congress.
