Augusto Paranhos is a Professor at the Federal University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. He completed his training in glaucoma at the University of Yale, USA, under the supervision of Prof Bruce Shields. Prof Paranhos has more than 100 articles published in the field of glaucoma and his research includes investigation of sleep disturbances in glaucoma, cerebral injury and glaucoma and at present, dysautonomia and vascular alterations in patients with glaucoma. Prof Paranhos is the supervisor of the postgraduate program in ophthalmology at the Federal University of Sao Paulo, President of the Brazilian Research Association in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO International Chapter), Current President of the Pan-American Glaucoma Society and Vice President of Brazilian Society of Glaucoma.
